Capital Preparatory Schools

Founded in 2005 by Dr. Steve Perry, a pioneer in the educational freedom movement, Capital Preparatory Schools offer disadvantaged middle- and high-school students an innovative, year-round college prep curriculum focused on social justice—and high expectations. Capital Prep opened its Bridgeport, Connecticut charter school in August 2015. In partnership with Sean “Diddy” Combs, Perry opened a second school in Harlem, New York, in 2016.

Capital Preparatory Schools send 100 percent of their students, most of them from low-income families, to four-year colleges.

In July 2017, the Charles Koch Foundation and the Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Foundation granted two significant gifts totaling $1.35 million to Capital Prep to further develop curriculum and address the educational inequalities that plague low-income communities.
