The Foundation currently gives grants to nearly 200 initiatives at colleges and universities across the country. We support the study of economic freedom and how it advances society’s well-being in a variety of ways, including research, lecture series, and reading groups. The Charles Koch Foundation’s goal in supporting colleges and universities is twofold. We hope to promote a better understanding of the link between free societies and prosperity and to provide additional resources to expand students’ educational opportunities and career development.

Beloit College
Dr. Josh Hall and his colleagues at Beloit College work with students to conduct research projects and host numerous guest lecturers. Students regularly hear from experts in economics and are able to learn about a variety of topics including the gains of trade, the effects of government regulation, and entrepreneurship. The speaker series not only connects students directly with scholars, but also prompts writing projects and lively discussions. These writing projects often result in the student’s first publication.
